Breakfast ride from Pune to Mapro, Mahabaleshwar

Yesterday I did a breakfast ride to Mahabaleshwar from Pune (That beautiful place where I live). It was fun riding, especially the damn ghats of Mahabaleshwar were awesome in the rains and classic sandwich at Mapro garden. Total ride to-and-fro is around 240 KM.

Me with my BAC Pune group started early morning around 5 AM from Chandni chowk. Yes you got to start early if you want to enjoy ride on empty ghats. But things in the start we had to wait for another hour for other peoples in the group to join near toll on the Satara highway. As usual we spent that time in discussing about bikes and stuff with repeatedly taking in hot tea. Having hot tea in the early foggy cold morning is heaven. Finally the Brijesh and Mr. Sridar joined us there. Mr Sridar’s bike chain was little loose, so first we got it fixed and start our journey.

Before the ghat begins, we stopped and had our breakfast at some dhaba(I don’t remember the name). I haven’t eaten such a good poha since long time. Also it was time for capturing the few ride moments and Brijesh is really good at it. Since we were already late, we wrapped it up soon and started again. Now the real fun starts.

As soon as ghats begin on Satara road, we all were sad, the road was under construction. Even though traffic was less, we were able to drive at the speed of almost 20/30 because of construction work going on the road. Double sad dose was, we were already little late now, we were expecting more traffic on the Mahabaleshwar ghat. To our surprise that wasn’t the case. Roads were still with less traffic and believe me it was hell fun to ride on such open roads in the ghats. We could easily spot many other riders like us having the same enthu and fun. To a rider in India, open curvy road is always a great moment for riding.

Mapro was not far, though we reached around 9:15 AM. I would recommend eating Classic Sandwich, I’m sure you will skip your lunch. Spending around more than an hour there, we started back for home. Sun was so hot, all of us started heating. Another add on was traffic in the ghats which had increased by now. We took two stops to have lemonade on the way while returning and reached around 2 PM at home.

Few snaps at mapro:-
