As the website is named you might have understood that, my name is Umakant Patil. I have a passion for motorcycle riding and lots of love for programming. I currently live in Pune, India (the city surrounded by beautiful mountains) & frequently travel to other parts of India. As a hobby and passion, I’m currently president of Avenger Motorcycle Club, India which I co-founded in the Feb of 2017, which is almost 5 years now. The idea of starting the Avenger Motorcycle Club was to unite all Bajaj Avenger owners, and together do group rides & discover places aka travel and explore together.
Recently I have got too much interest in cycling. It has grown so much on me. I went from 2KM a day to 82KM a day in around 30 days. Now I sometimes do 100KM a day. I’m a big fan of tech and health Twitter.
The idea of this blog was to write up some technical/non-technical work topics which I find interesting, exciting, new or challenging. But over time I also decided to add my travelogue or any other travel tips. Although I barely find time to keep it updated.
Currently, I work remotely as Sr Software Engineer at Manufactured Networks. Before Manufactured, I had worked at Ozy, Globant India, Glam India, Rediff.com Lt, LearningMate Pvt Ltd, MIT College of Engineering – Pune (Yeah my career started with building websites for colleges/schools).
When I started this site I had named it umakantpatil.com. I found it too lengthy. I always wished I could get umakant.com for myself. I know I’m to blame for it not knowing early to register the name. It was registered after 5 years I was already in the IT industry working as a software engineer and 7 years after I had registered my first domain ever (regrets and just regrets). Thank God I found the .sh domain. It just sounds like a shell script file. Tadda…I renamed my site to umakant.sh from 21 Jan 2020.
Update 13 Jul 2022: well well, umakant.sh domain was not quite popular among the masses. Telling it to someone from non-tech was hard. Telling my fullname.com makes more sense and is easy to remember as per feedback from friends and plus my experience last year. Rolled back to the old umakantpatil.com domain.
Update 2 Aug 2023: Finally I was able to get hold of umakant.com domain a day ago and migrated my site to the simpler and easy-to-remember domain. \m/ \m/ The old domain still points to this site. And it was pretty expensive for me to get the domain.
